Hoşsohbet Napoli | A Fine Company: Naples
Bu yazıyı 5 dakikada okuyabilirsiniz...
Merhaba.

ediyordu.

Her

evler bulunuyordu. Bu manzara, bana İstanbul boğazına nazır konumlanmış evleri
ve sahil yolunu anımsattı. Çok geçmeden kaleye vardım ve alabildiğine mavilere
dalmak umuduyla kalenin tepesine doğru çıkmaya koyuldum. Bulutlu gün, denizin
maviliğini alıp götürmüş, yerine griyle karışık soluk mavi denizi
sermişti önüme. Fakat denize dair doyumsuzluğum öylesine yerli yerindeydi ki, bu tutku ruhuma su serpercesine ferahlattı beni. Dalgaların
kalenin duvarlarına tokat gibi çarpışıyla, rüzgârın saçları hafifçe süpürüp
geçişiyle birlik olup sessizliğin sesini dinletiyordu bana güzelim Akdeniz. Kalede geçirilen birkaç saat sonrasında, gerisin geri aynı yoldan buluşma
noktasına doğru yürümeye başladık. Akşamüstü yolumuz Salerno’ya düşecekti.
Napoli anılarımın sonuna geldim. Aynı günün gecesini geçirdiğim Salerno
yazımı da, kısa süre içinde paylaşacağım. Bu
esnada Barcelona yazımı okumak isterseniz, buradan ulaşabilir ve düşüncelerinizi
benimle paylaşabilirsiniz.
Sevgiler, Can.

This article is seven-minute long...
Hi all. The
things I have mentioned you in those lines so far are far less than those I
haven’t mentioned. Because there are so many memories all of which have made
unique impressions in my mind during the travels.
Today, I am
gonna talk you about my Naples trip. While living in Italy, I have visited some
distant cities with ESN Crew which was the apple of the town’s eye. I
previously talked you about my trip to Perugia
which I have gone with ESN Crew as well. Naples is a city situated on the
southern Italy and it is just next to Tyrrhenian sea. Naples is a complete substitute
with Barcelona in terms of climate and location. Even though I visited Naples
in winter, it was relatively warm. Both because there wasn’t any flight from my
town to Naples and because train tickets were pricey, I have joined ESN Team
just as I heard they are going to visit Naples. Even if I do not prefer
travelling with groups, I used to have good experiences with people who I have
travelled with. Naples trip was one of those too. According to the plan of ESN
Team, we were going to start the journey meeting at the crack of the dawn, then
we were gonna spend the day in Naples and after that we were gonna visit
Salerno towards evening. So, we were gonna hit the road at the crack of the dawn and we were again gonna arrive our town
on the early next day.
A Christmas
Market in Naples...
Around the times that the day was insisting on rising, we met at the unique
park of our town with our friends from around the Europe. After everyone is
present at the meeting point, we hit the road. The huge amount of Turkish students attracted my attention
immediately. We arrived Naples around noon. Coach left us next to a small
harbour and so to speak we, as a crowded crew, dived into the city. Even if I
have just met her, Naples revealed herself in terms of authenticity compared to
other cities in Italy. The disrepair of the streets, untidy garbage containers
which have been highly discussed on the media and the immigrant population are
the things which attracted my attention at first. It is likely to come across
some issues such as bad environmental planning in many cities that are not
touristic in Italy. However, it is much more prevalent in Naples, so it
manifests itself clearly. Since Christmas is around the corner, we found
ourselves in a tiny market in the city of christmas markets, discounts and the
flood of people. Market was just like a thin and long road and just two people
were able to walk over against each other. Because there were booths - in which
thousand of goods were being exhibited- attracted people’s attention so much
that people were standing in front of the booths and it consequently was
blocking the way and this situation reminded me of traffic jam of Istanbul.
Market was like an inn-yard and I could see the balconies of the yellow houses
with blue shutters, when I look up at the buildings. I remember that we have
spent around one hour in the market. The thing which is lost in my mind that
how ESN Crew collected all people in this huge crowd in order to take them to

The Lunch
As little time
has passed, we reached the biggest cathedral of the city. Photos were taken as
the all clichés and we all have went into the cathedral to take a glance at
inside. After visiting grand cathedrals of Rome
and Florence, even if the Duomo of Naples made me feel
like an aristocrat who turns up his nose, this magnificent cathedral nourished
the eyes and the souls with its frescoes and centuries old paintings. We went
outside without spending so much time in Duomo. As it happens in all those
kinds of trips, leisure time was provided. Meanwhile, the songs coming from our
stomach were so high that we directly went to a pizzeria in the motherland city
of pizza. I understood from the fact that we were passing by the “Da Michele”
pizzeria thanks to metres-long queue in front of it, which is the most in
demand pizzeria in the city. So, I changed my mind to go there and I went to
another pizzeria across this one. A huge pizzeria greeted us compared to Da
Michele. It was like a chain restaurants of Turkey which has two floors with
large halls. The variety of pizzas surprised me. Because many pizza types were
being served in at least five-six combinations including margharita ,which I
love the most, and other well-known types of pizzas and each of those pizzas
have their unique names. I remember that I chose margharita without needing to
unknown ones. We hit the road
towards our next destination without spending so much time by eating which is a
typical behaviour of any wanderer.

Castel Nuovo
& Piazza Plebiscito
After a while, Castel Nuovo was standing before us with a huge body. Castel
Nuovo refers to “New Castle” in Italian. If I happen to describe this
structure, it would be the definition of the castle in my mind. Because, when I
saw this castle, I visualized my childhood castle toys and the magnificent
castles of Tarkan movies. I took several photos in front of this castle. After
strolling around its yard, we started to walk towards the square of Plebiscito
which is one of the largest squares of the city. When we reached the square, we
saw a huge filed in which children were playing. Excessively curved, the square
was floored with cobblestone. The structure was just like the structure in
front of the San Pietro Cathedral in Vatican, but this structure has much more
smaller beams and stoas. There was a huge church dome at the behind of the structure.
Nuovo Castle |
After leaving the square, we began walking to Castel Dell’ovo. Castel
Dell’Ovo refers to “Egg Castle” in Italian. It stems from a legend about a middle-age
poet called Virgil. When we came closer to the coast, I observed the warm city,
which lives at the heart of Mediterranean sea, and I inhaled the odour of the
sea. There was a two-lane coast road next to the pavement and there were huge and
colourful shuttered buildings beside the road, which were a tidy architecture
sample of the Italian culture. This view reminded me of the houses which
overlook the bosphorus of Istanbul. After a while, I arrived the castle and I
climbed up to the roof of the castle hoping to dive into the wide blue of the
Mediterranean sea. Cloudy weather carried away the blue of the sea. Instead, it
reveals the pearl-gray sea in front of me. But my nonsatisfaction into the sea
is in the proper place and this freshened my soul by spending my time there more
than an hour. Hitting the walls of castle by the waves and slightly sweeping my
hair by the wind made me listen to the sound of the silence. After spending a
couple of hours in the castle, we began walking towards back to the meeting
point. We were gonna come by Salerno towards evening.
Plebiscito Square |
It is the end of my Naples memories. I am gonna share my Salerno trip soon,
which was the same night of the day. Meantime, you may read my previous Barcelona article clicking here and you
may share your thoughts with me.
Regards, Can.
