Berlin'deki Yabancılar & Bir Getto: Kreuzberg...
Ertesi gün kahvaltı biter bitmez tekrardan yola koyuldum.
Çektiğim fotoğraflar bana Potsdamer Platz’a gittiğimi söylüyor.

çeşit Türk çaylarından simitlere, aklınıza gelebilecek her tür şeyi bulabilmek
Her birinden azar azar yedim. Zira,

Side Galerisi. Günümü de orada geçirerek sonlandırmak üzereydim. Yorgunluğun ve
soğuğun verdiği his bunu söylüyordu bana.
Kendisi
de dana eti olduğunu söyleyerek beni yanılttı. Bense açlığın verdiği duyguyla
birlikte kendisine itimat ederek makarnaya girişmiştim. Hatırlıyorum da o an

Sevgiler.

Foreigners of Berlin & A Ghetto:Kreuzberg...
As soon as I finish my breakfast on the next day, I hit the road again. The photos I took
say me that you first visited Potsdamer Platz. The thing which did not take
part on the photos but in my mind was that there was a bazaar
along the square. This bazaar did not seem like a typical Christmas market. It
was much more similar to our Turkish bazaars. It was obvious by the Turkish
people who were selling various Turkish products at the bazaar. After messing
around the bazaar a little bit, I hit
the road in order to see the historical remains of Berlin wall which could
be seen in the specific spots of the city. Firstly, I visited Checkpoint
Charlie. This place was a kind of checkpoint spot and which was between the USA
and U.S.S.R forces during the World War II. The cottages and the caution signs
are still standing there. There is also some remains of the Berlin wall near to
this district. The surroundings of the Berlin Wall, which is around five-metre
long, is arranged and it is transformed into a touristic destination.
After I
finished my tour around there, I hit the road towards Kreuzberg district which reveals the meaning of the
ghettoisation. Kreuzberg is the district in which Turks are densely populated
in Berlin. Hence, even though I went there knowing this situation, I was
surprised with the situation when I witness it. Both environment planning and
many Turkish shops reveals that you are kind of at your home country when you
are walking down the streets of Kreuzberg. Yet, it can be an obvious example of
witnessing a man who are talking and swearing to someone on the phone. An
example of ghettoisation can be seen with the small amount of blonde Germans in
the district. It wouldn't be wrong to say that I was not surprised with this
ghetto district. It was also priceless to experience the ghettoisation in
person instead of reading it from the books or classes. While I was messing
around the streets of Kreuzberg, I came closer a supermarket called Istanbul.
My intention was just to buy some fruits. However, the urge feeling of seeing
inside beat me and I found myself while walking among the racks. It was such a
feeling that I was like a Turkish who was away from his hometown for decades
and who felt the happiness and astonishment at the same time. It was possible
to buy many kinds of Turkish products from several tea products to Turkish
bagels. Then, I strongly desired to buy Turkish bagels, so I asked a Turkish
woman; ''Do you have Turkish bagels?''. She responded ''Yes dear.'' Following
this conversation, that woman just asked me that ''Are you hungry?'' without
saying anything at all. I said '' No thank you''. But she insisted, then I said
okay and we walked into the kitchen of the supermarket. There were soup, rice
and fried meat for the lunch with two other guys in the kitchen. I was not
hungry, and meeting new people, visiting new places dominated, so I ate little
of all those. Some of those guys were from Black Sea region just like me, so We
started to talk about common issues of our region. Then, I thanked them all and
I left there in order not to occupy their work. Even if anyone is away from
his/her hometown a little of time, put aside the fact that meeting good people
made you felt good, even a tea package or a Turkish bagel may help you to
travel so much away in time. Those memories are remembered good whatever you
experienced in that period of time.
The Berlin Wall & Dinner...
After saying good bye to those good-hearted people, I
directly went to metro station in order to save time. The next stop was
the ''East Side Gallery'' which is
longest remain of the Berlin Wall in this beautiful city. This is the one-kilometre
long remain of the Berlin Wall which makes it the longest one in the city and
which was the border between East Berlin and West Berlin decades ago. The
creative German artists did not consent to leaving the Wall empty and they
pushed the limits of creativity by drawing various types of paintings from
social messages to good regards. I almost took all of the works. While I am
writing those now, I also look up the photos I took and I remember the freezing
weather of the city when I check my red nose on the photo. Btw, East Side
Gallery was one of the most crowded spot of the city while I have been to there
for a couple of days and I was about to end my day by spending my time there.
The feeling of exhaustion and the cold revealed this situation. I directly went
to metro station and I started my journey to the metro stop which was just next
to the hostel I stay. After reaching the hostel, I rested a little bit in my
room and my only intention was to get warm. The isolated people staying my room
which I mentioned on my previous post were
at the room as well and one of them did not seem good. So, as soon as he went
to restroom he vomitted all the things of his body to the water closet. After
warming myself a little, I realized that I am hungry and I went out. I did not
think of what to eat and I started to walk upwards of the street. After walking
a little while, the street seemed more vibrant. As soon as I walked into an
alley, I saw an Italian restaurant. The feeling of seeing anything related to
your hometown which I mentioned above arose again in my heart when I saw that
Italian restaurant. I went inside without thinking of anything. I was starving
and I went inside of the first restaurant that I think good. As I mentioned in
my previous posts that the most important priorities of mine are to eat
somewhere which is convenient to money and save time together, but it was not
like that at all at that time. There were well-dressed ladies and gentlemen who
were speaking Italian at the restaurant. Very clean table sheets on the round
tables, valuable paintings and yellow lights were glaring so much. At that
time, I was telling myself that I hope I will be able to go out from there
exactly like I go in. The waiter who were wearing a tux gave me the menu. I
ordered spaghetti without thinking so much. The menu was really rich and the
details of each food was described perfectly on the menu just as those kind of
restaurants. I paid attention to the pink meat which were diced and I asked for
the details of the meat. Waiter told me that it is cow meat and I trusted him.
I was starving and I dug into the spaghetti. I remember that I just focused on
eating spaghetti so much that my mind which questions everything did not
questioned the detail of the food. When I realized the details it was too late
and I was about to finish my meal...
Good bye Berlin...
After the dinner, I felt lethargy and exhaustion. So I
directly went to the hostel. Next day, I left the hostel to go to Frankfurt
from Berlin. In the early morning, I reached the bus terminal that I came when
I first arrived Berlin and the journey began. After a seven-hour long travel, I
arrived at Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof. (Centre Station) From there, I travelled
around thirty minutes and I arrived my aunt's home. Whatever it refers to
arrive at home, meeting again with your aunt and cousins refer to the same
feeling. I have stayed with them for a couple more days. Then, I hit the road to go to Italy. Thus, the
adventure of my Pescara article was
about to begin...
Sincerely,
