Bloemenmarkt |
Amsterdam'da İkinci Günün
Başlangıcı...
İkinci yazım ile buradayım tekrar. İlk yazıyı okumak için buraya tıklayabilirsiniz. En son
Leidseplein'a doğru yola çıkmıştım. Bu bölgenin turistik olması, bünyesinde
bazı pazarları barındırması, ziyaret etmemin başlıca sebeplerindendi. Nitekim,
gittiğimde çeşit çeşit lale tohumlarından, ekseriyetle turistik eşyaları ve
hediyeliklere kadar ürünle karşılaştım. Zamanında bizim topraklardan alıp
götürdükleri o lalelerin bin bir türlü çeşidini bulabileceğiniz bir pazar
Bloemenmarkt...

The Beginning of The Second Day in
Amsterdam...
I'm here again with the second Article of Amsterdam. You can click here to reach the Firstarticle of Amsterdam. I was going towards Leidseplein District. The main
reason of visiting this district was because of touristic place and having some
local markets such as Bloemenmarkt. So, I came across lots of souvenirs
including various types of tulips and typical souvenirs like magnets.
Bloemenmarkt is a kind of market in which you can find hundreds of tulips which
were used to be bought from Turkey years ago. I have spent a little time there
after buying some souvenirs, then I left there. The next stop was Dam Square which
is at the heart of the city. The last night was not good enough for me to see
Dam Square because of sprinkle. I intended to see the square all in detail in
that time. The circulation of people is so dense in this square, and the square
is one of the well known spots of the city which is a kind of the symbol as
well. The every part of the square was full of people from the various
countries all over the world. For a moment, I saw the well known museum in
which celebrities sculptures are exhibited. I took several photos from the
outside, and I left. I ran into the small streets of the square...
Dam Square |
Oude Kerk & Nature City: Amsterdam...
I hit the road
towards the Centraal Station. I analyzed the huge building with the look of
sensitive architectural perspective (!), and I was thinking that even if the
history of the country seems new, the main point is not in the history, it is
at the heart of present time. So, Amsterdam proves it with the buildings which
are not so historic compared to other buildings in Europe. I was walking
towards the Oude Kerk. But I came across another church which is called
St.Nicholas Church. I went inside of the church and I saw that it was a Baroque
style church. Then I continued the main route. I reached Oude Kerk which refers
to ''Old Church'' in Dutch around fifteen minutes. This Gothic-style church is
the oldest and the most well known church of Amsterdam. The surroundings of the
church consist of a small square with cobblestone and the huge trees which
shade park benches.
Oude Kerk |
The air of this place was peaceful, I sat down and I
started to see people coming and going around the square. I started to listen to the sound of the nature in which branches of
trees which seem like a vein surrounds a human body while giving us shadows in
the square with the woodnotes from the birds... Then, I looked around this
well known Red Light District in which Oude Kerk is located as well while I was
thinking what is the reason of becoming so much famous for Red Light District
just as a celebrity.
Centraal Station |
Jordaan District...
After leaving the church, I lost in the streets of the city
of thousands of canals. Amsterdam has a unique charm of its own. It is a city like
a person who attracts you just being on her own, and this characteristic
appeals you so much. Amsterdam is a city like a person who wears her heart on
her sleeve. The city presents herself into you naturally and she seems like
saying:''The rest is up to you.'' Wandering in the streets of the city while
thinking of getting rid of seeing every little streets of Amsterdam dazzles
people like me. I reached Jordaan district while having the feelings I
mentioned above. As I mentioned my last
Amsterdam article that I wanna talk about Jordaan district. Jordaan
district is a little away from the crowded touristic spots of the city, and
this district is unique on her own. There are lots of English style buildings
with red bricks which are several blocks-long all along the streets. There are
different sizes of parks, benches and green places around Jordaan district.
When you visit Amsterdam, you may tell yourself that authorities used various
parts of the city by transforming into a green spot. Even if Amsterdam is not
one of the most green cities of the world, I saw lots of green spots in
Amsterdam. When I reached Jordaan Area, sun was about to set, and it was
priceless to spend my time with the soft light of the sun and with the
colourful trees of the parks.
Jordaan District |
At a moment, I saw some boys skateboarding in a
skate park, and I watched them for a while. They seemed quite professional in
this sport. Apart from those professional maneuvres, it seemed that they
adopted this job as a life style with their outfits as well. It seemed like it
was a typical village of the Netherlands instead of the centre of Amsterdam. Jordaan
is a quite different area from other touristic spots of the city by being so
serene. There were mostly local people in the area except for little amount of
tourists. Besides, staying at a hostel which is at the heart of Jordaan
district helped me to explore this unique area. I walked around the area about
one hour, I took photos and I started to walk towards to hostel...
Jordaan District |
Leftovers from Amsterdam...
I woke up next day to leave the city. It was sighted on
horizon that there will be a travel to Germany in the afternoon. So, since I
love this district, I decided to wander around the hostel in the meantime. I
explored some of new canals during a couple of hours, and I admired them once
again. Then, I went inside a supermarket in order to get something, and I
surprised with the prices. It was easy to find a mug around 3 to 5 euros in
this district while those were around 15 euros in the touristic spots of the
city. So, I got mugs. Then I saw a garish shop and I went inside. There were
various kinds of convenience foods in there with the spirits that I did not
even see before. For example, there was a champagne which costs two thousand
euros in this shop and those two shops were walking distance to each other. I
looked my watch and it told me that time is about to up, and the depature place
is a little away from the city. So, I walked towards to hostel without hurrying
up or going slow. When I was sitting in the lobby of the hostel, I checked some
details which are the shuttle I need to hop on and the distance of the
departure place from the hostel. After spending a little time more at the
hostel, I hit the road.
I hopped on one of the trolleys which surround the city just
as a network, and the travel began. When I reached the Terminal, I came across
a chapman who sells sandwiches and thousands of bicycles. I could not help
myself from the smell coming from the chapman, and I got a sandwich. This one
was a small bus terminal in which the buses pull over along the main arterial
road, and while one was departing, the other was reaching the terminal. There
was a huge field just behind of the buses, and it was like a bicycle park in
which thousands of bicycles present. I am
adding a photo of this condition maybe because you may not imagine the
situation. The bus was a little late and I asked for someone, then I
relieved that there is nothing wrong. The bus reached the terminal, and the
five or six hour-long journey has begun towards Frankfurt. The bus was double
decker and I went up. It was nearly full empty from the first stop till the
end. The journey passed just like I was extending my legs and I was leaning.
Anyway, journey was so fun that it would be this much fun even if the bus was
completely full. There were green fields with which it could not be seen till the
end of it, and there was the sound the peace during the journey...
